Chemical Ally
And, if it comes to pass
that the carousel spits your bag out last,
fear not. Grind your teeth,
for, after all, this is the least
of your concerns, if some deity burns,
jealously learns and therefore churns
out such an unearned sentence,
why prostrate yourself in repentance?
Dream in the face of such things,
for patience its rewards bring,
two mouths in duets soon will sing
to warm the bed you came to cold.
It’s more important that you hold
her naked to your nakedness,
let those chemicals do their best
to form strong alliances that test
in love such black cosmos careless
as this. Lie long together, fierce in need,
planting promises, spilling seeds
to bring harvests that her hunger feeds.
